Melisah May - Blue & The Altars Of The Sublime

ONW0014-Melisah-may-Exhibition_v1-SML.jpg

My interest in the ocean and its roaring horizon has been surging its way through my painting for years, and in this recent body of work the ‘Blue’ is again submersing my premeditations, and dominating my palette. Food is another motif that features heavily in the creation of these works, the exploration of aesthetic and cultural notions and value of what we eat is an area I plan on negotiating into the future.

Onwards Studio on Friday 25th October from 6pm-9pm.
The work can also be viewed on Saturday 26th October from 10am-4pm.

TRASH - Solo Exhibition by Liz Pike

TRASH Full Poster Final-sml.jpg

Debut solo exhibition by Newcastle artist, Liz Pike.
Music by e444e

TRASH explores the contrast between the synthetic and the natural, merging classical motifs of flowers with iconic pieces of trash from my own experience of growing up with a sugar tooth in the consumer driven 2000’s. Featuring traditional still life paintings re-imagined as the disaster zones that are the bedside tables of myself and my friends. Inspired by a valentines day rose stored in an empty McDonald’s cup; the ultimate trash vessel.

Join us for a beer or wine at the launch on 27th September at Onwards Studio.

STUDIES IN BLUE

ONW0014 Stephen Walsh Exhibition_sml.jpg

A series of new paintings by American artist Stephen Walsh.

A lyrical, at times chaotic world of clouds and barely discernible forms. These mostly white paintings swell and rearrange themselves before the viewer, offering endless pathways into a strangely calm yet stimulating landscape. Several drawings and works on paper from the artist's past and present will accompany the paintings.
